Biography

I introduce myself

My name is Michela Manetti, I am an Italian mother tongue teacher and an author.

If you want to learn Italian, I will be your guide in your learning process.

From Italy to Russia to USA and back

I was born in Tivoli, a town near Rome, famous for Villa d’Este, now UNESCO World Heritage Site. I have always been fascinated by languages and I hold a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Foreign Language and Literature. My major was Russian and my minor English. I have perfected English at the Pacific Luther University of Tacoma (USA) and Russian at Moscow State University (MGU) in Moscow.

After my studies I worked for a while as English teacher, and then I moved to Germany.

Moving to Germany

It was a 180° change and I started learning German from the scratch. This personal experience gave me a new perspective: I was back being a student after being a teacher for a while. I had the opportunity of applying my previous knowledge to my learning process in order to be more effective, but also gave me ideas for improving my teaching skills.

I am currently working as Italian teacher at the Language Center of Technical University of Braunschweig. I have also other clients in Germany both in public and private sectors.

I want to expand my client base and share with you my abilities. I can teach in both German and English. However, I want to offer a full immersion into Italian so I would prefer to use only our target language but I can address your needs for further explanation in German or English. If you want to know more read about my method.

Learning and Teaching Languages is my Passion!

I Love teaching languages and on the side, I do enjoy learning as well. I have taught Italian and English and I speak

  • English fluently
  • German (B2, heading to C1)
  • Russian (C1 with a master’s degree. I haven’t spoken in a long time though)
  • French (very rusty :D)
  • Persian (B1 and work in progress)

Publications

I am also an author. In 2019 I publish my first book “ho sposato un musulmano. Italiane in cerca d’amore tra sogni, conversioni e truffe”, Castelvecchi Editore.

My book has been featured in several Italian newspapers and online magazines:

  • 19 July 2019 il Venerdì di Repubblica
